International School of the Bible Starting in Burundi

Introduction

ISOB is starting in Burundi with a great storm. The first place that opened the beginning of the school was in Musenyi commune, Bubanza province the western province of Burundi.

1. Dealing with the storm

This is Pastor Omana in the church of Musenyi on the 5^th of April 2009 when the heavy rain stormed on us and made the building of the church to be destroyed. Under the rain, we decided to take the picture after every person has gone in a refuge place. The good thing with this meeting was that many servants of God gathered to be informed about the school of the Bible in Burundi. After the rain, we came back together started our work of the school of the Bible.

The plastic sheets were coming of because of the rain. Now as the rain was over, we came back together to start our mission: ISOB Burundi.

2. Time of worship under the rain

After the rain, we took a good time of worship under a drizzling rain. After the service, we started by explaining what ISOB is all about. There were many people but we had also 20 local churches represented and the list of servants of God who represented their congregations are as follows:

4. Introduction of ISOB international leaders to Bubanza Church leaders

The first step was to introduce the leaders of ISOB on the international level. We had a picture and we used that picture to show people the founder of ISOB. The crowd was big and there were questions after the introduction. Among the questions were to clarify the modalities of the school functioning, where the certificates will come from after school, where will be centers of schools etc. We answered those questions by saying that a class is every congregation represented by a servant of God and certificates will be given from America (which made them so thrilled) and classes can be all the churches represented in that meeting etc. Those questions were mainly answered by Pastor Augustin Omana.

Then we had to take time and explain in short the titles of each book (titles were in English form). Pastor Jean-Baptiste Sibomana took time and explained each book’s title and little bit of its content.

5. Explaining the English titles of the 7 books

Here is Pastor Jean-Baptiste Sibomana explaining to the congregation and church leaders the meaning of each of the seven books that will be our text books as we learn in ISOB-Burundi.

6. The body of Christ anticipating the blessings from ISOB-Burundi

The last event was to distribute books to the church leaders as the list shows above. The decision was that every church will take 7 copies of books as they are 7 different types of books. We had 20 local churches represented.

Conclusion

Here are church leaders holding books in the air with great joy as the school of the Bible starts. This event happened in Musenyi Commune, Bubanza province, in the western part of Burundi. We left Bujumbura as a team of two pastors who are working together: Pastor Omana Augustin and Pastor Jean-Baptiste Sibomana. It was a great joy to us to organize ourselves and pay for our transportation to and fro and get in touch with dear people of God. It is a great joy to serve the Lord and watch God preparing the ground for growth of His church. To God be all the glory for this great work that is starting in Burundi! We will need more of your prayers and love so that we can be strong in this great commission that God has entrusted us. We will give more reports on the number of schools that are being started.
