Junk to Jewels

Table of Contents - Synopsis

Section 1 - Overcoming - Introductory chapters designed to lay a foundation.

Introduction

Broken dreams? Past failures? Present trials? Future fears? Various losses experienced in life? Turning life's "junk" into jewels through the blood covenant and Cross of Jesus Christ. A lifestyle path to overcoming.

Chapter 1 - Dead people need life not the law.

The goal of this chapter is to empathize with hurting people and allow the Holy Spirit to capture their heart through mercy and grace.

Chapter 2 - Who is Jesus now?

This chapter takes a look at who Jesus is today through John's eyes in the Book of Revelation. John, on the Isle of Patmos, was hurting and most likely experiencing disappointment, like many of us. It is too easy to misunderstand the character of God when we are going through afflictions. The goal of this chapter is to set the stage for the "overcoming process" by showing that Jesus is actively looking for overcomers, and that it is ok if one is hurting.

Chapter 3 - The Scroll of Revelation.

Jesus is the centerpiece of Revelation, His unveiling. The unrolled Scroll shows what He is actively doing right now.

The points emphasized in this chapter are:

1. The Scroll is your freedom, and Satan's demise.

2. No matter how bad things look, you can trust God.

Chapter 4 - Jesus' Mission Statement.

Jesus' mission statement, Isaiah 61, infers a lot about overcoming and the benefits beyond overcoming. However, He shows us that the path may be difficult, but that He will finally overcome and give the victory to our account so that we may be considered overcomers and receive the rewards thereof. There are great rewards!

Chapter 5 - Overcoming brings rest.

This chapter addresses the radical views of God's sovereignty and man's responsibility, with the suggestion that the "overcoming lifestyle" will balance both extremes and provide the reader with the rest of God

Chapter 6 - Blessed are the poor.

This goal of this chapter is to give the reader, who is in difficult circumstances or afflictions, God's view that he/she is actually in a more advantageous position than the self-sufficient.

Section 2 - The Blood of the Lamb. These chapters focus on the centrality of the Cross and its finished work.

This section focuses on "the blood of the Lamb."

The book covers all three ingredients of overcoming as listed in Revelatin 12:11. "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death" (Revelation 12:11).

Chapter 7 - The Blood Covenant.

This chapter shows the reader how to "drink His blood and eat His flesh", as in John chapter 6. It shows how Jesus' solution for us is a life exchange through a blood covenant.

Chapter 8 - The Cross - the power of God!

The apostle Paul determined to preach only the Cross of Jesus, as it is the power of God! This chapter lays the foundation for the power of blood covenants in general, and the Cross of Jesus as the centerpiece of our faith. Chapter 8 previews the next several chapters, which examine the various works accomplished by the Cross.

Chapter 9 - The Cross - Redemption-purchased from slavery.

This chapter helps the reader examine his/her life for remnants of slavery in his/her personality.

Chapter 13 - The Cross - Reconciliation.Chapter 13 covers the fact that we were made friends with God through the Cross. A great exchange took place; His life for ours. We became New Creatures in Christ; He became sin for us.

Chapter 14 - The Cross - Intimacy.

The result of reconciliation and exchange is intimacy. We are now the same race as God; therefore, we can experience intimacy at the level God originally designed for us.

Chapter 15 - The Cross - The Reconciliation of Evil.

Not only were we reconciled to God, but all "things" have been reconciled as well. This chapter shows that no matter how many bad "things" are in your life, they have been

Chapter 16 - The power of His resurrection.

In case the reader is overwhelmed by the awesome promises set forth so far, this chapter discusses the power of Jesus' resurrection. If Jesus could be raised from the dead, even so, their afflictions can be turned to jewels.

Chapter 17 - The Cross - Justification.

This chapter shows that justification is a legal courtroom process that is not only designed to bring favorable judgement to us, but also fatal judgement to Satan. The scene is a cosmic courtroom as described in Revelation and Daniel.

Section 3 - The word of your testimony.

This section focuses on "the word of your testimony."

Chapter 18 - Standing on the Word of God.

This chapter teaches about our offensive responsibility for overcoming and putting final defeat on Satan. It shows how speaking the Word of God as the word of our testimony, as in Revelation 12:11, is a large part of our overcoming.

Section 4 - "Loved not their lives to the death" - Taking up your cross.

This section focuses on, "they loved not their lives unto the death."

Chapter 19 - Repentance.

This chapter emphasizes the power of godly repentance for ourselves, our children, our communities and nations.

Chapter 20 - Our cross - Faith without works is dead!

A blood covenant is not valid unless both parties accept it. We are to take up our cross in order to appropriate all that Jesus did for us. As in Revelation 12:11, this is "not loving our lives to the death."

Chapter 21 - Coming into the Presence of God - The Tabernacle - Part 1.

This series of chapters on the Tabernacle are a pattern for taking up our cross. The reader is led through the Old Testament Tabernacle into the Holy of Holies to commune with God. On the way to His presence, we honor His protocol of taking up our cross with each piece of furniture we encounter.

Chapter 22 - The Bronze Altar - The Tabernacle - Part 2.

The Bronze Altar is where we honor His Cross by searching our hearts for sin that can be recognized and confessed.

Chapter 23 - The Laver - The Tabernacle - Part 3.

This chapter emphasizes the Word of God.

Chapter 24 - Thanksgiving - The Tabernacle - Part 4.

This chapter emphasizes having an attitude of thanksgiving and praise.

Chapter 25 - The Table of Shewbread - The Tabernacle - Part 5.

The Table of Shewbread, in this example, represents the human will. Chapter 27 leads the reader through the process of exchanging his/her will for God's will.

Chapter 26 - The Golden Lampstand - The Tabernacle - Part 6.

The Golden Lampstand stands for our mind and reasoning. This chapter leads the reader to be set free from reasonings and strongholds in the mind and to accept the mind of Christ.

Chapter 27 - Strongholds - The Tabernacle - Part 7.

This chapter goes deeper into the issue of strongholds.

Chapter 28 - The Altar of Incense - The Tabernacle - Part 8.

The Altar of Incense stands for our emotions and our worship as we prepare to have God pull us into the Holy of Holies.

Chapter 29 - Inside the Holy of Holies - The Tabernacle - Part 9.

This chapter sees the reader inside of the Holy of Holies, in His presence. Also, it shows the Ark of the Covenant inside of the reader's heart, not just as an exterior article to be worshipped. It shows the reader the magnificent provisions that are resident in him/her.

Section 5 - More than an overcomer.

Chapter 30 - You are a conqueror.

Chapter 31 - Hupernikao.

During the overcoming process, we have become "nikao," or conquerors. This chapter climaxes with a divine revelation of what it means to be "more than conquerors" as in Romans chapter 8.
