Hearing God's Voice Part Two

Review Part One

"I will stand my watch And set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected. Then the LORD answered me and said: "Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry." Habakkuk 2:1-3, NKJV.

Key #1 God's voice in our hearts sounds like a flow of spontaneous thoughts. Therefore, when I tune to God, I tune to spontaneity.

Key #2 I must learn to still my own thoughts and emotions, so that I can sense God's flow of thoughts and emotions within me.

Key #3 As I pray, I fix the eyes of my heart upon Jesus, seeing in the Spirit the dreams and visions of Almighty God.

Key #4 Journaling, the writing out of our prayers and God's answers, provides a great new freedom in hearing God's voice.

2.  Adam and Eve were enjoying hearing from God.  This was a matter of perceiving with their right brain.  The left brain was the logic part.  The left brain function is very important to us, we need it to get along in life.  What God was basically saying was, "Don't enthrone the logic part of your being; stay tuned to My Flow.  Use the Tree of Knowledge as a tool, but not as your god."

"And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; "but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."" Genesis 2:16,17, NKJV.

3.  Eastern cultures have maintained more of the right brain life style.  Western cultures have converted mainly to left brain, or logic living.  This is true even in many Western churches.  In Deuteronomy chapter 5 and confirmed in Hebrews chapter 12, God was telling Moses that the people had chosen to not hear from God directly, thus have that heart-felt love relationship, but rather had chosen to let Moses hear, have his relationship with God, and then give them laws to obey.  This is human nature!  But it is not God's best.  Granted, it is better to be a child under the law as a tutor, than be living a wild life style in the hope that the law will eventually lead one to Jesus Himself.

"For you have not come to the mountain that may be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and darkness and tempest, and the sound of a trumpet and the voice of words, so that those who heard it begged that the word should not be spoken to them anymore. (For they could not endure what was commanded: "And if so much as a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned or shot with an arrow." And so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, "I am exceedingly afraid and trembling.") But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel." Hebrews 12:18-24, NKJV.

In 1979 The Lord saved me while reading the Book of Revelation with left brain understanding.  Years later, while in a crisis, He revealed to me that John, the author, was a right brain Easterner.  God revealed the book of  Revelation to me to my right brain, and oh what a difference!  It's all about current day overcoming.  I thank God for the left brain application, I am not discounting it, but there is much more.

4.  World's view verses God's view.  I recommend that you read and study the Flowing River lesson, which you can obtain either in the Grow or Die book available online, or access just that lesson online at http://www.isob-bible.org/flowingriver.htm.  In it you will journey into the Holy of Holies by taking up your cross as Jesus commanded.  In simple terms, this is trading your carnal mind, will and emotions, for spiritual mind, will and emotions.  Adding to this, we need to give preference to our spiritual eyes and ears over our carnal eyes and ears.  All of this gives preference to the right brain function.

Example of the spiritual mind. "But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart." Luke 2:19, NKJV.

Example of the spiritual will. "When these things were accomplished, Paul purposed in the Spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, "After I have been there, I must also see Rome."" Acts 19:21, NKJV.

The spiritual emotions. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness," Galatians 5:22, NKJV.  Jesus was led by compassion, a spiritual emotion.

Spiritual eyes. "that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints," Ephesians 1:17,18, NKJV.

Spiritual ears. ""He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"" Matthew 13:9, NKJV.

The left side of the brain is controlled by the right side.  Many of us have to allow the right brain to become more prominent.  Also, God wants us to submit the right brain intuition to the left brain logic, and the left brain logic to the right brain intuition.  Just this week I told my wife the "I felt that this path was wrong, just in my spirit."  Later, I submitted it to my logic, which caused me to go to the Lord again for guidance.  He honored my submission and totally changed my will.  In this case my intuition was wrong, or at least it was not His will on the matter.

Take up your cross, practice the Four Keys, and you will experience God's flow in your heart, which is more that just hearing Him, it is experiencing Him!
