208. God – The Healer of Our Bodies

When man lost the blessing of God by sinning, he came under a curse and the power of the devil.  In this way, the devil was able to bring many forms of weakness and sickness to man’s body.  But God still desires to bless man and to save him not only from sin, but also from sickness.  On the cross Jesus bore our sins, but He also bore our sicknesses and we may now receive healing and health for our bodies.

It is wonderful when God performs a supernatural instant healing.  This happens often.  But it is also often that people do not receive the manifestation of healing in their bodies immediately when they pray and that experience clouds their faith forever getting healed.  This is not necessary.  Getting on your pathway to healing could be the answer for you. This is a Scriptural principle.

Jesus applied a substance on the eyes of the blind man in Mark 8. The man received a two-step healing.

Mark 8:23-25 (KJV) says, “And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up; and he was restored, and saw every man clearly”.

Derek Prince makes the point in his book God’s Medicine Bottle that faith comes by hearing the Word (Romans 10:17), but hearing is more than just “ear hearing.”  He makes the following points.

Proverbs 4:20-22 says, “My son, listen to my words; bow down your ear to my sayings.  Let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and health to all his flesh”.

Notice the key to Biblical healing is HEARING in a multi-media way.

1. Attend to My Word: ‘Attend’ means to place close attention to.  That means undivided attention.  It also means paying close attention.  Your priority in life is what you spend your time doing.  When my child’s healing was the most important thing in my life that is what I spent my time meditating on.

2. Bow your ear to my sayings:  Bowing’ means an attitude of humility.  It means being teachable from the Word of God.  When you bow your ear, the other ear is facing up towards God.  Let Him instruct you.  He may want you to change your lifestyle or go to a doctor or take some vitamins or herbs.  Moses, when faced with bitter waters, heard from God specifically to take a certain tree and throw it into the waters.  The waters were healed.  The tree had qualities that the water needed.  The tree also represents the tree of the cross that Jesus can throw into our bitter waters.

3. Let them not depart from your eyes:  The key thought here is our focus. One of the things about human eyes, that is not true of other animals, is that we have two eyes that focus forming one image.  We see only one thing at a time.  We need to keep our eyes on Jesus and the Word. Luke 11:34 (21st Century KJV) says, “The light of the body is the eye. Therefore, when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light. But when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness”.

Healing comes from light.

Malachi 4:2 says  “But to you who fear My name the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings; And you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves.”

4. Keep them in the midst of your heart.  Derek Prince says in his book that one of the simple principles of learning and teaching is to use the ear gate and the eye gate.  Used together they get the entire attention of the student.  When we use the ear, the eye and mix it with humility, the teaching will get into the heart.

Proverbs 4:23 says, ”Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life”.

God’s Word will end up in our heart.

Satan will try to steal the Word.  We need to do the keeping.  Healing will come!

Look up these Scriptures and read them.  Meditate on them today.

16. When Jesus did not heal people it usually had to do with lack of faith.  Matthew 13:58; Mark 6:5-6

Faith comes by hearing God speak.  If healing does not come at first, press into the Word of God until God speaks to you.  Healing will come.  Faith is not our responsibility, it is God’s.  Our job is to fellowship with God and make ourselves available to Him so that He may speak to us.

17. God never changes.  James 1:17

18. Jesus not only suffered and “bore” our sin but He also took and bore our sickness so we could live in righteousness.  1 Peter 2:24; Matthew 8:17

28. The disciples failed to heal an epileptic because of their unbelief; they needed to pray and fast. Matthew 17:20-21

30. Believers may now lay hands on the sick in the name of Jesus and they would be healed.  Mark 16:17-18

31. One thing we should do if we are sick is to seek the elders of the church for prayer with anointing oil.  The results will be the forgiveness of sins and healing.  James 5:14

32. The Lord (after His resurrection) went with the disciples confirming their preaching with signs.  He will do the same for us.  Mark 16:20

Scriptures for Healing Lesson

Genesis 3:1-13

1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, Is it so that God has said, You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

2 And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden.

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.

4 And the serpent said to the woman, You shall not surely die,

5 for God knows that in the day you eat of it, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food. and that it was pleasing to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make wise, she took of its fruit, and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

7 And the eyes of both of them were opened. And they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made girdles for themselves.

8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day. And Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God in the middle of the trees of the garden.

9 And the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, Where are you?

10 And he said, I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I am naked, and I hid myself.

11 And He said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree which I commanded you that you should not eat?

12 And the man said, The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.

18 It shall also bring forth thorns and thistles to you, and you shall eat the herb of the field.
