307. The World

There is a team of demons out to capture you.

The first is called the Whore, which is the spirit of the World.

When she gets your attention, the next demon puts blindness on your eyes. He is called the Spirit of Darkness.

After he gets you, you no longer know right from wrong.

Then their entire crowd can come in and capture you. Nicotine, alcohol, porno, greed, lust, and the list goes on. The end result is union with Satan!

Even if you do not get completely under control of the spirit of the World, she will make you a fruitless Christian (Mark 4:19).

There is a personality called “the World.”

It is not the physical earth, but it is a system, a kingdom made up of persons; some of them rule, and others are in subjection to the rulers. The subjects of this kingdom are people. They are ruled by demons. This kingdom, the World, has geographical boundaries that consist of this earth and the air right around this earth. It is invisible, but you can see parts of it from time to time. Satan is the prince and god of the World (John 16:11 and 2 Corinthians 4:4).

It also has princes or a system of under-rulers (1 Corinthians 2:6). It has its own spirit that it imparts to its subjects that are under its rule, and that spirit is called the spirit of the world (1 Corinthians 2:12).

The principles of the World and the values that its people or subjects have are: the lust of the flesh (craving for sensual gratification), the lust of the eyes (greedy longing of the mind), and the pride of life (the assurance in one’s own resources or in the stability of earthly things) (1 John 2:15-16).

The World is referred to in Revelation 18 and Proverbs 7 as the Whore and also as Babylon. A whore is one who has an illicit affair with another in order to take something from them. This affair is without any permanent commitment; it gives a short pleasure, takes, and then leaves.

Jesus has a bride who helps Him just like Adam did. Jesus’ bride is called the church. But Satan has a whore. He sends the whore out to recruit for the World. Jesus sends His bride out to recruit for His Kingdom. Jesus has a marriage covenant, a commitment to His people.

There have been two “worlds” since the creation of man.

The first was so evil that God wiped it out with the flood in the days of Noah. The second started after that and is still in existence today. The second World is scheduled to end, but this time not by water. It will burn with fire (2 Peter 3:6-13).

The reason the flood did not solve the problem forever is because it only killed humans. But the World is run by demons who are not killed by water. They are only put out of commission by fire. The coming destruction will be by fire.

God promised Abraham that he would inherit the world (Romans 4:13) through his offspring, Jesus. It is interesting that in Luke 4 when Jesus first started His earthly ministry that Satan tempted Him with all of the kingdoms of the World and Jesus would not fall for it. He was thinking, “O Father, I want all the authority that is in his kingdom, especially for the people, but I know that You have a better plan.”

Revelation 11 tells about Jesus at the Cross overthrowing the authority of the World and taking it for His Kingdom. Jesus, the head of His Kingdom, defeated Satan, the head of the World, therefore, all under Satan goes to Jesus.

In Revelation 18 the Word shows us a “fast forward in time” where the Whore, the World, is finally put away for good, being burned with fire. It is not a matter of if, but of when. Pretty soon, I think.

Loving the World and the things of the World is a proof that we do not have a pure love for God. “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (1 John 2:15). Jesus died in order to set us free from this Whore, why would we want to flirt with her?

There is another kingdom called the Kingdom of God.

There are only two systems that every human can choose from. Most people, even many Christians do not believe this. By default everyone is under the system of the World. One must make a choice to leave it and be under the Kingdom of God. There is no middle ground. Many who make no choice are under the kingdom of the World. Christians who do not make the Word of God their final source for all their needs are by default under the kingdom of the World. Therefore, they are, to some degree, under the leadership of Satan. It is very tricky and most people are in denial, but I can testify that it is true, not only from my experience but by the Scriptures.

Colossians 1:13 says, “He has delivered us from the power of darkness (World) and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.”

The Kingdom of God is also invisible. It does not have geographical boundaries. It can exist anywhere, even on the earth right along side of the World.

Jesus is the King of this Kingdom. It has a Spirit who dwells in its subjects called the Holy Spirit. People from the World can change kingdoms and leave the World and get into God’s Kingdom. The values of this Kingdom are righteousness, peace, and joy. This is also called the Kingdom of Light.

The World works by a pimp called darkness. The Kingdom of God brings people in by light. The King of this Kingdom is Jesus. The body of believers is called a chaste virgin bride.

Jesus is called a bridegroom. He has a bride; not an adulterous affair like Satan has with the Whore and her people. Jesus gives to His people; He does not take advantage of them. He never leaves them nor forsakes them. He is a giver to His people, not a taker. We become one with either Jesus or Satan.

1 Corinthians 6:16-17 says, “Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For ‘the two’, He says, ‘shall become one flesh.’ But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.”

When Jesus made His “marriage vow” to us, He took on Himself our nature of wickedness like a pure man marrying a whore. That is why He went to the Cross.

The days of Jesus’ Second Coming will be similar to the days of Noah.

Matthew 24:37-39 (Amplified Bible) says, “As were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For just as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, [men] marrying and [women] being given in marriage, until the [very] day when Noah went into the ark; and they did not know or understand until the flood came and swept them all away – so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”

The second World, the one we are living in today, will be destroyed in almost the same way that the first one was destroyed, except this time it will be with fire. Was there warning? Yes. Noah preached for a long time, yet only seven other people entered into the Ark. Jesus is our Ark today. He is the only way to escape the destruction that is going to burn up the world with fire and fiery destruction.

I have heard people say, “I am riding the fence, I have one foot in and one foot out.” Can you see one of Noah’s sons saying that? The door to the Ark was shut from the outside. His leg would have been cut off if he had been on the fence. Anyone who thinks they are just flirting with the World better put in for an amputation!

In spite of how bad and how destructive the world is, God so loved the (people of) the world that He gave His only Son, so that whosoever would believe in Him would not perish (with the world) but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Jesus in effect “married us while we were yet sinners.” This is like Hosea the prophet marrying the prostitute Gomer in the Old Testament.

Quite often the “world” does not manifest itself in immoral ways. Mark 4:19 (Amplified Bible) says that the world “creeps” in.

These were not bad things that the people were doing, but they were of the World and not of God. Don’t be confused! God wants you to live in His Kingdom, not in the World. There is a difference.

Jesus made a major point of the fact that His followers should be supplied by the Kingdom of God and not by the Kingdom of the World. He said that unbelievers had to worry and be stressed out about everything that they needed. He said that God will give us those things, but in such a way that they will not enslave us. This applies not only to things, such as money and clothes, but everything else we need like self-esteem, acceptance, purpose in life, friends, a spouse, whatever.

Matthew 6:31-33 says, “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles (people in the world) seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

How do you seek the Kingdom?

You seek the Kingdom of God in fellowship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. He will speak to you what you need, and it will come into your life by faith and works of faith. The Kingdom works by His Word. “And He said to them, ‘To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables’” (Mark 4:11). Read the parable in Mark 4 for the details of how the Word works.

Many Christians miss it here. They go to the ways of the world without knowing it, and seek those things rather than seeking the Kingdom of God. They end up in a trap.

If you do not choose the Kingdom of God, if you do not make Jesus your complete master and Lord, if you do not rely upon the Word of God to provide for all of your needs, you will be automatically trapped into the world.

How can we detect the “World’s” spirit?

Are you “hasty”?

It is not always easy to detect. Usually it has to do with discontentment. We want more money, popularity, a hotter car, a girlfriend or boyfriend, independence from authority or power. These things in themselves are not always bad or immoral. The problem comes with the word hasty.

God’s Kingdom works by a seed being planted and growing when God speaks. His Word is the seed.

That takes time. If we are not willing to wait, then we get “hasty” and try to get these things for ourselves, and we get the “world.”

Proverbs 28:22 says, “A man with an evil eye hastens after riches, and does not consider that poverty will come upon him.”

Proverbs 14:29 (21st Century KJV) says, “He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding, but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.”

Proverbs 21:5 says, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty; but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.”

The world traps people with lust and greed and the need to have things NOW! That is why so many people are in debt; they are purchasing things that they cannot afford. They are HASTY. When one enters into a HASTY relationship, one also gets into debt or perhaps slavery is a better word.

Are you worshipping your family or religious traditions?

Family is fine, but there is a trap. If we identify too much with our family roots and not who we are in Christ, we can be trapped. Even if we are from a Godly family it is dangerous to invite the ancestral spirit in. We want the blessings of the new birth and not the curses of the Adamic generations.

Matthew 10:37 says, “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.”

Matthew 12:50 says, “For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”

The “world” has a very religious side to it. Spiritual Babylon, the world, has a counterfeit religion. Make sure you are following Jesus in the Word through the Holy Spirit with the Father in the Truth, and not someone’s tradition.

Proverbs 7 gives us an exact symbolic picture of how the Whore, the World works.

Ephesians 6:12 (Amplified Bible) says, “For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.”

The World holds its own people in slavery with little effort. But she has a very special plan to lure Christians to partake of her wickedness. She knows that she cannot convince a Christian (say, for example, a young person who was raised in the church) to commit a horrible moral sin and turn their back on the Lord.

First, she tempts him/her with something that looks innocent. Then, she dispatches the Spirit of Darkness to blind the eyes of the believer. She sears his/her conscience so that the believer no longer has any sense of right or wrong. The Spirit of Darkness comes in as the doorkeeper, and then he invites all the other spirits in, like nicotine, alcohol, porno, lust, greed, rebellion, etc. The result is either backsliding or being unfruitful.

The Proverb 7 process goes like this:

1.    You, the believer, are warned to keep the Words of God. You are to lay them up in your heart and to treasure them, to bind them on your fingers, to keep them as the apple of your eye, write them on the tablet of your heart; to pursue after wisdom as your intimate friend and in this way you will keep from the claws of the whore – the World.

2.    The whore flatters with smooth words.

3.   She searched for her prey, a youth void of good sense. She is aggressive and comes to you.

4.   Sauntering through the streets of the World, he (the believer) went into the house of the World. He had no business flirting with things of the World.

5.    Darkness was falling. The Spirit of Darkness is poised to sear your conscience.

6.    The demonic encounter. She, the whore met him. Turbulent and willful, she does not stay in her house, but she lurks to ambush in the streets of the World.

7.    She kissed him and spoke. Kissing is a covenant that can trap the passions.

8.    She said that she had some goodies. She said, “I sought you and found you.” Demons are aggressive.

9.    Acting as a whore, she entices him with pleasures and she overcomes his conscience. He gives in like an ox going to the slaughter and a dog enticed by food into a muzzle.

10.  A dart of passion hits his vitals - he is caught in a net. Now he no longer has his own will; he is a prisoner.

11.  This believer was slain like millions of others, all of whom ended up in Hell!

When we are interested in the World, we cannot see the Kingdom of God. All God requires is that we turn from the World towards Him, and He takes away our blindness and gives us the Holy Spirit to see and enjoy the Kingdom of God.

2 Corinthians 3:16 (Amplified Bible) says, “But whenever a person turns [in repentance] to the Lord, the veil is stripped off and taken away.”

Acts 26:18 says, “To open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.”

Imagine a ship, with a big hole in its side, sinking. You and I have air and scuba gear on so that we cannot get hurt. We have enough extra air tanks for all the passengers.

The other people are in the bar drinking and having parties and they cannot see the water rushing in.

What should be our response? Should we go warn them and get them some scuba gear, should we try to fix the leak, or should we go have a drink with them? What did Noah do?
